INTRO: 6 Month Tattooing Apprenticeship Porgram
By the time the trainee finsihes this program, he/she shall have all the
basic skills needed for an entry level position as a tattoo artist.
STEP 1: Needle Making - Time Frame: 2 weeks
Trainee shall learn to make various needles for all applications which
he/she will apply to client's skin.
STEP 2: Machine Operation - Time Frame: 2 weeks
Trainee shall learn all aspects of a tattoo machine. From tearing down
to building. Also which techniques to use on various skin applications.
STEP 3: Equipment & Operation - Time Frame: 1 week
Trainee shall learn to operate all shop equipment needed to conduct
business.
STEP 4: Sterilization & Blood Born Pathogens - Time Frame: all through course
Trainee shall learn all about contamination and disease control. He/She
shall learn to operate an autoclave, ultrasonic clearner, how to fill paper work,
log sheets and sporetest applications. And day to day shop cleanliness.
STEP 5: Drawing & Flash Art - Time Frame: 2 weeks
Trainee shall learn to do basic drawings and flash layout. Also stencil making
and line drawings.
STEP 6: Outling a Tattoo - Time Frame: 1 month
Trainee shall learn the most important aspect of tattooing, outling.
Bold, New School, Old School, Fineline, ect.
STEP 7: Shading - Time Frame: 1 month
Trainee shall learn basic shading techniques to advance black & grey wash.
STEP 8: Color & Coverups - Time Frame: 1 month
Trainee shall learn various techniques to color & blend. How to cover & rework
an old tattoo. Shall also learn which inks to use on various applications.
STEP 9: ShopCustomer Service - Time Frame: 1 week
Trainee shall learn how to sell a tattoo, pricing and greeting clients.
